At the beginning of the year, I decided that I was going to make 2018 my year. For months, all I could think about is how I wanted to live a better, happier, life. I had this picture of the life I wanted to live in my head, and 2018 would be the year I start working towards that.
Fast forward to April 12. I’m sitting on my couch in this weird/emotional/grumpy mood all because I don’t know what to do with my life, I just want to be happy, yadda yadda yadda. And do you know what I realized? I haven’t done a single thing to start living that better, happier, healthier life. Four months have passed and I have done a dang thing to better my life. I have the power to change these things, so how I can sit and pout about something that I’m not putting into action?
Simply put: I CAN’T. You just don’t get to complain about the things in your life that you have the power to change. It all starts with YOU.
So after a long weekend of being stuck inside during the snow (in April, what is this!?), I decided that was all going to change. Monday rolled around and I decided it was time to make a change. I started researching all kinds of tips and trips to start accomplishing my goals. Books I could read. Women who inspire me and live the kind of life I want. Anything I could think of. [I’ll be writing a blog on my research and tips for any of you that want to start living a better life, too].
One of the first things I did, was simply write out my goals. And that goes for every aspect of my life: career, health, family, financial, relationship, hobbies, and anything else I could think of. I wrote it all down. It’s strange how just putting it all down on paper made me feel – it was definitely a step in the right direction. And more importantly, it made those goals real. They were no longer some thoughts locked up in my mind – they were goals, thought out and established, pen to paper. After reading each one over and over again for what felt like 100 times, I picked a few to start working on, like paying off debt and starting a blog.
I’ve started working on a monthly budget so I can figure out how much I can start paying towards debt. And here we are, at my very first blog post.
I’m not even sure what I’m expecting from this blog yet – but I hope that with each post, I might be able to help another person in my situation feel a little bit better about their own life path!
So here’s to the future – living a better, happier, healthier life!
